Mystery smell affects students in Amador Hall

On Thursday afternoon, facility services investigated a suspicious smell emanating from the elevators of Amador Hall.

Over the past couple months students, staff, and maintenance people keep coming across an odor that is described as dirty diapers, throw-up, or a dead rat.

“It smells like poop,” said mail delivery personnel, Monica Patterson. “I thought something happened in the elevator shaft, maybe someone threw up.”

Waiting for the elevator to land on the first level, students mingle and comment about how the problem has not been taken care of.

“Reactions are hilarious,” said senior psychology major Lindsay Killian. “This has happened before, they just shut down the elevator to look at what the odor could be.”

Amador Hall is the home of the psychology, sociology, and ethnic studies departments and people coming and going do not understand why the problem persists.

The maintenance and elevator servicemen commented that they do not know what the smell is.

Nick Soza, employee of facility services said, “Your guess is as good as ours.”
