Women’s basketball loses regular season finale at Montana State

Sacramento State women’s basketball dropped its final game of the season to Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont., Saturday.

The Hornets fell to the Bobcats (15-14, 10-10) by a score of 81-63, finishing the regular season with a 5-8 road mark. They have advanced to play in the Big Sky Conference Tournament.

Sac State (18-10, 10-10), finished its season just one win shy of tying the program record for most wins in a season. The Hornets struggled to shoot the ball throughout the afternoon, converting on just 21-82 field goal attempts, including 11-49 from 3-point range.

A bright spot for Sac State came in the form of senior guard Alle Moreno, who finished with 17 points on 6-13 shooting, including 5-11 from 3-point distance. The Hornets struggled to maintain possession of the ball committing 15 turnovers.

Montana State was led by forward Jasmine Hommes who had a game-high 21 points on 9-13 shooting. The Bobcats established momentum early leading 40-25 after the first half, including a 21-6 run to start the game.

Montana State shot 52.5 percent from the floor, shooting 83.3 percent from the free throw line. The Bobcats out-rebounded the Hornets, 51-43.

Sac State will now turn its attention toward the start of the Big Sky Tournament, which kicks off Thursday.
