Sac State volleyball drops fourth match in a row to Idaho State

Sacramento State’s women’s volleyball team lost for the fourth time in a row Friday against Idaho State.

The Hornets fell in four sets (21-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-25) at Colberg Court.

With the loss, Sac State (13-15, 8-9) is now in a sixth place tie in the Big Sky Conference with Northern Colorado. Only six teams will make the postseason tournament.

For the Hornets, it was the first home game after a four match road stretch in which Sac State finished 1-3.

Redshirt sophomore Tressa Lyman guided the Bengals to victory with 14 kills and a .371 percentage.

As a team, the Hornets hit just .176, while allowing Idaho State to hit .333. ISU collected 54 kills compared to 49 from Sac State.          

Senior right-side hitter Kayla Beal led the way for Sac State as she finished her evening with 12 kills and a .276 hitting percentage.

Sac State will complete its two-match homestand against Weber State (3-14, 7-24) Saturday at 7p.m.

The match will mark the final home game for seniors, Beal, setter Hannah Hettinga, setter and defensive specialist Katie Aprile and middle blocker Chelcy Motes.
