Sacramento State’s cross country team will host the Hornet Jamboree, which invites collegiate and regional high school runners Saturday at Granite Regional Park.

The Jamboree is one of three home meets for the Hornets. Kathleen Raske, Director of Cross Country, views the competition as an opportunity for the team to feed off the energy of their home fans.

“It’s always exciting to be at home and for coaches it’s great to have the runners competing at a high level on the home course,” Raske said.

Raske said the Jamboree is a low key event that gives the team a chance to prepare for competitions of greater importance.

“We’re expecting them to have great performances and have fun, as we prepare for next week and the week after,” Raske said.

At the completion of the Hornet Jamboree, the team will find themselves on the road for their next two meets as they head to Pasadena, Calif. for the UCLA Invite; followed by the Stanford Invite in Stanford, Calif.

The Hornets will return home for the NCAA Preview at Haggin Oaks Golf Club on Oct. 4.
