Turnovers costly for Hornets at NAU

The Sacramento State men’s basketball team lost  a Big Sky Conference game on the road at Northern Arizona tonight.

The 57-50 loss drops the Hornets’ record to 6-5 overall. After opening the conference schedule with a win against Montana State, the Hornets have lost two consecutive Big Sky contests.

The Hornets shot a dismal 34 percent from the floor, which was still better than NAUs 31 percent, but the Lumberjacks’ defense kept NAU in the game.

Sac State turned the ball over a season high 20 times against NAU resulting in 19 points off turnovers. NAU had 13 steals in the game.

Seniors Joe Eberhard and John Dickson led Sac State in scoring with 12 points each.

The Hornets will try to break the conference skid when they return home on Monday to take on Southern Utah.
