Cause of Sac State fires still unknown

CAL Fire officials said today they still do not know what caused the fires in Mendocino and Mariposa halls on Thursday.
“The cause is still under investigation,” said Chris Anthony, CAL Fire battalion chief.
Anthony said he did not know how long the investigation would take. He also said he could not speculate whether it was arson.
Fire Captain Doug Ferro of CAL Fire said it is still in the information-gathering stage of its investigation.
There was more damage in Mariposa Hall than in Mendocino Hall, Anthony said.
