Mountain Lions season delayed

The start of the Sacramento Mountain Lions season has been delayed to mid-September, according to a letter released by UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue on July 19.

The UFL season, which was scheduled to start August 13, is being pushed back due to the current labor negotiations of the NBA and NFL, respectively.

“The uncertainty that gripped pro sports delayed many essential business agreements until late in the offseason,” said Huyghue in the letter. “In order to provide the product that UFL fans have grown to expect after two seasons we decided … to push back kickoff.”

Players have been asked to delay travel plans to their team’s cities until mid-August, when training camp is expected to start.

The State Hornet will update when an official season start date has been announced.
