Hornet gymnastics finishes second in three-team meet

Sacramento State gymnastics posted a new season high in a three team meet in Boise, Idaho on Friday night.

Boise State took first place, scoring 195.075. It was the second time this season the Broncos defeated the Hornets.

Sac State came in second place, ahead of Seattle Pacific University, which scored 190.500 to the Hornets’ 193.850.

Sac State opened on bars with a strong performance, scoring 48.450 points and was led by Erin Stubblefield’s career-high-tying 9.775. In its next event, Sac State scored 48.175 on the beam. The duo of Cayla Boyce and Jasmine Lipka tied for first place by scoring 9.775.Sac State hit another season high on the floor, scoring 48.900. Lipka led all Hornet performers with a career-high of 9.900.Freshman Nicole Meiller stepped up the on the vault, scoring a career-high 9.775, best among all Hornets. Overall, the Hornets scored 48.325 as a unit on vault. At the end of the night, Stubblefield made it atop the all-around podium, finishing in third with a score of 38.700.The Hornets come home on Friday to host San Jose State University in the annual “Think Pink” meet at 7 p.m.
