Men’s soccer defeats Loyola Maramount 2-1

The Sacramento State men’s soccer team defeated the Loyola Maramount Lions in the first round of the NCAA tournament 2-1 on a golden goal by sophomore defender Bryan Baker in the 96th minute.

The Hornets led 1-0 by halftime after a goal by senior midfielder Scott Crandall in the 28th minute.

In the second half, junior midfielder Vincent Ocampo scored a goal in the 73rd minute to tie the score 1-1.

About six minutes into the first overtime, Baker scored the game-winning goal from an assist by junior midfielder Fernando Cabadas.

The Lions outshot the Hornets 22 to 12 for the game.

The Hornets will play the UCLA Bruins for the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday.
