Upscale Mix offers exclusive amenities

Mix, a new nightclub in the heart of downtown Sacramento, encompasses style, class, entertainment, escape and a place for people to just hang out.

This late night ultra-lounge is the perfect new hot spot to kick back and enjoy some serious pampering with VIP bottle service.

Upon entry, I carefully scrutinized a colorful bookcase covering the wall at the top of the stairs with pottery and glass as it welcomes you into a spacious lounge section of “Mom and Pop” chairs, lavish rugs, silver lamps, and pieces of wooden furniture throughout.

This club has someone to take your coat and purse at the door and even someone to tend to your every need in the bathroom, should you need it.

Happy hour during the weekdays offers something fresh and unique to the Sacramento nightlife.

Tuesday night is “Scotch and Stogies by the fire,” Wednesday night is “Girl Talk!” which is champagne and bubbles along with wine parings.

Thursday night is “Vintage Social,” a pairing of older vintage wines with others of its kind, and Friday night is “Martini Mix-Up!”, specialty martinis stirred and shaken right at your table.

Mix has two perfectly clean and organized bar sections with a variety of premium beers on tap as well as specialized mixed martinis.

Along with the hefty cover I paid to get in, I noticed that on the Saturday night that I went, most patrons were older professionals.

As for the music selection, every night is subject to its own genre of music whether it be 80’s music or the oldies. The night I was there, music alternated between hip-hop and pop.

Finding my way to the dance floor was a struggle trying to bob and weave through all the people. Once I finally made it I noticed the sound level of the music intensified so that all I could hear was the music and nothing or no one else.

Once I stepped off the dance floor I noticed the sound level of the music drastically died down so that I could now hear other voices and even communicate comfortably with my friend without having to yell at her, something you don’t find at most clubs.

The club’s earthy tones and comfortable chairs almost makes me feel like I’m at home.

I look around and see a number of private sections, lined with pillows and black leather seats that can actually be closed off with the shut of a curtain so that a cozy couple can have some alone time.

The 7,000 square foot lounge is at the top of the Firestone building, and overlooks beautiful downtown Sacramento. The Firestone building was built in 1929.

While this ultra lounge is extremely upscale and classy, I’m not sure if every Sacramento State student’s pockets are big enough for a nightclub such as this one.

Feeling up for a night of style and sophistication? Try mixing it up and hit Mix.
