Gymnastics team finishes second in quad meet

The Sacramento State gymnastics team recorded a season-high road score and placed second in the quad meet on Sunday in Davis. The Hornets’ (194.60) score finished behind Stanford (197.0), a team that is ranked 10th in the nation. Sac State beat host UC Davis (194.275) and San Jose (193.90). The high road score raised the Hornets’ Regional Qualifying Score. Junior Marina Borisova tied for first on the beam (9.850) and floor (9.90) in the Hornets’ first two rotations. Sac State posted a season-best on the vault with four of the six gymnasts recording season-highs. Freshman Alycia Chan (9.875) finished in third place on the vault. The Hornets recorded a season-best on the bars as the team counted five scores above a 9.725. Senior Alexis Tsurumoto (9.850) posted a season-high and tied for third. Borisova (39.275) scored a season-high in the all-around, finishing second in the meet.

Sac State will be heading to the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Boise Idaho, where the team will look to win it’s third consecutive conference title. Karyn Gilbert can be reached at [email protected]
