The Sacramento State baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader against the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday at Hornet Field. The Bulldogs swept the Hornets in the series, improving their record to 15-8, while the Hornets fall to 5-14.

The Bulldogs won the first game by a score of 9-5. Hornet starting pitcher Trevor York received the loss after throwing four and a third innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs. His record is now 0-4 for the season.

The score of the second game was similar to a football score as the Hornets lost 18-12. Hornet freshman starting pitcher Brandon Sandoval received the loss after he threw three innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits.

Hornet junior first baseman Gabe Jacobo went 4 for 9 on the day with three RBIs and three runs scored.

“(The players’) mindset has to be a more positive one. If we get behind by one or two runs we can’t just throw up our hands and go run and hide,” Hornet coach John Smith said. “We need to get tougher, be stronger minded and stronger willed.”

The Hornets will host the Stanford Cardinal at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Hornet Field.
