Have you met the ASI president?

Sacramento State Associated Students Inc. held an event, titled “Meet Your President,” today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the University Union’s Redwood Room.

ASI President Christina Romero stood in the hallway of the Union passing out pamphlets and encouraging students to come inside the auditorium to enjoy free pizza and receive information on activities.

Six tables were set up featuring representatives from different ASI programs, including Peak Adventures and KSSU 1580 AM.

“It’s pretty bumping,” said KSSU Disc Jockey Mike Archibald. “There’s a lot of pizza and a lot of people getting to meet the president.”

Students were allowed pizza if they had proof of visiting all six booths. Romero said this was to be sure students were being educated about ASI services and opportunities.

“I never knew about the radio station,” said freshman business major Chantel Nugent, who said she was just walking in the Union with friends before being ushered into the auditorium by ASI representatives.

“I’ll probably listen online now,” she said.

Freshman kinesiology major Samantha Jordan said she believed the event was set up well.

“It kind of makes me sad though that there aren’t a lot of people here,” Jordan said.

At around 10:30 a.m., there were approximately 15 students in the auditorium.

A large screen near the front of the auditorium flashed information regarding Student Activities, scholarship opportunities and ASI’s 2007-08 Strategic Plan.
