Sac State weightlifting places fourth at Golden West Open

The Sacramento State weightlifting won five trophies at the Golden West Open in Los Altos.

Ben Claridad placed first in the 105 kg class, lifting 271 kg, to mark a personal record.

Donte Morris lifted 125 kg to place third in the 62 kg and twin brother Dominic Morris (118) placed fourth in the same category. Both lifts marked personal best for the Morris twins.

Darius Randall took third place in the 105-plus class lifting 189 kg in his first outing with Sac State. First-time lifter Mac Contreras placed fourth in the 150 kg class.

Chris Jordan (119 kg) and Matt Wright (100 kg) placed fourth and fifth in the 69 kg class, respectively.

Jose Villanueva (165 kg) finished fourth and Christopher Black (127 kg) placed sixth in the 85 kg class.

In her first meet Arlette Marenco took fourth place in the 75-plus kg class.

Veronica Carpenter (118 kg) finished third and Nadine Nouchi (100 kg) took fourth in the 53 kg class.

The Sac State team finished just two points shy of third placing fourth overall.
