Davis dumps Hornets

The UC Davis Aggies clashed with the Sacramento State Hornets today and the Aggies struck early, with a goal in the seventh minute.

The Hornets were shutout by the score of 3-0, and the Aggies outshot the Hornets 18-5.

Fernando Cabadas led the Hornets offense with three shots.

The rivalry of these two teams was evident in a rough game that saw 36 fouls called. The referees were under constant verbal attack from the coaches and Hornet head coach Michael Linenberger was kicked out of the game in the second half for his comments directed at the refs.

The men’s soccer team has a doubleheader with women’s soccer next Sunday at Hornet Field against the Menlo College Oaks.

Were not scoring goals, even when we got good shots were not finishing,” said Linenberger.

“Our effort overall was good but you win by scoring goals and preventing them and so far were doing neither,” said Linenberger.

When asked about the loss today Linenberger said, “3-0 says the most.”
