Sacramento State’s Career Center was opened today to provide students, faculty and staff with information regarding its services. The event was held at the center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Some of many services the center offers are walk-in counseling, resume building help, and on-campus recruiting to Sac State students, said Merritt Miller, director of the center and Academic Advising.

The services are free of cost and are offered up to six months upon graduation after a small yearly fee is paid.

Freshman nursing major Jessica Romano said today was her first time visiting the Career Center after hearing about it during orientation. She said after speaking with staff members, who she said were nice and helpful, she left the center feeling more confident about finding a job after graduation.

In addition to counseling, a career information library is also available with a wide range of books covering just about every field or major. Students who aren’t sure what their career options are in their major can obtain such information by visiting the library.

Another service available to students is Career Connection, an online job and internship listing, that is available to every student with a SacLink account.

Miller said about 5,000 students take advantage of the services provided by the center, but wishes more would do so.

Students interested in visiting the Career Center can go to Lassen 2000 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
