AIRC, Union offers services during finals
May 17, 2007
It’s that week before finals, also known as Dead Week, and soon enough the semester will be over.
Various facilities at Sacramento State have changed their hours and are offering special perks this week and next week to better accommodate students who wish to prepare for finals on campus, and to aid in making the campus a little less “dead”.
The Academic Information Resource Center is always open 24 hours on weekdays, said Larry Vu, a senior accountant major and employee of the AIRC Helpdesk.
This week it will be open 24 hours on both Friday and Saturday as well, Vu Said.
Other ongoing services on campus will be especially beneficial to students during finals. Wireless printing has been available since last year, but many people aren’t familiar with it.
Vu said the process of printing from a laptop takes about five minutes, and it’s very easy to find by doing a search for “wireless printing” on www.csus.edu.
Java City has also switched it up a bit for finals. The cafe in the University Union has been and will be placing hot pots of coffee out after Java City closes, with self-serve cups for anyone interested in having a free dose of caffeine to aid in studying.
“It’s our gift to (students) through this stressful time,” said Kerri Blaine, a junior liberal studies major and Java City employee.
