Eat, drink at Ink

Ink Eats and Drinks is a small and quaint restaurant located on N and 28th streets in downtown Sacramento. The restaurant is decorated in old school tattoo art. Many of the bartenders are even tatted up; tattoos almost seem to be a requirement for working there.

Once you enter the restaurant you are greeted by warm, relaxed lighting. The atmosphere is a mixture of everyday eats and romantic upscale dinning. Ink is filled with comfy booths that seat four. Although there are not a lot of places to sit, the seating arrangement is adequate.

The menu is loaded with a selection that is obscure while maintaining a home-style mix. Patron Lindsey Reed was enjoying a bowl of penne pasta macaroni and cheese with chopped hot dog.

“It reminds me of the food I used to eat as a kid, but better than my mom’s,” Reed said.

The employees at Ink are friendly and according to server Anna Schaubach, it is because they have a “cool” manager and a small staff. Schaubach said that she likes the restaurant because it seems like everyone is family and nothing about the place is corporate.

Businesswomen Kate Adam’s favorite dish is the Sacramento Sliders. These are two by two inch burgers that are smothered in an angus sauce and topped with caramelized onions. It was hard to get any words out of Adam while she was nearly inhaling her favorite meal at the tattoo diner. Adam said she enjoys the sliders because of their taste and because they are just the right size.

This restaurant is located only minutes from school and on the weekends is open until 4 a.m. They serve breakfast (on Sundays), lunch, dinner, and late night snacks.

There is also a gorgeous bar with top-notch drinks such as their Key Lime Pie Martini.

Lunch and dinner plates start at $7.50 and breakfast plates start at $6.

If you are hungry, no matter what time of day, Ink can fill your needs. They are open for lunch Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They close in the afternoon and reopen for dinner at 5 p.m. On Sundays breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
