Frisbee — not just for dogs

The Sacramento State ultimate frisbee club competed in theirfirst tournament Saturday, May 8. The club managed to place twoathletes in second place at Modesto after a semester oftraining.

Michelle Metlzer, club president, became involved last fallafter friends encouraged her to try it out. Saturday, Metzlerfinished in second place in her first organized ultimate frisbeecompetition. The tournament divided up the athletes based on skilllevel to ensure a fair match-up.

The club was created last fall after ultimatefrisbee enthusiasts on campus wanted to expand their skills andmeet new people. “I couldn’t throw a frisbee at all 2 1/2 yearsago, but it doesn’t take a lot of brains and the team helped me outa lot,” Metzler said.
