Hornets blanked by Nevada, 3-0

The Sacramento State women’s soccer team suffered its second straight loss by the score of 3-0 Friday night. This time it was at the hands of Nevada in Reno.

Sac State stayed in it in the first half, playing the Wolf Pack to a scoreless tie at the half. Nevada started the scoring in the 69th minute when freshman midfielder/defender Randee Robinson converted following a corner kick by freshman midfielder/forward Jessica Thompson.

Nevada’s second goal came five minutes later in the 74th minute when freshman forward Miranda Montejo got credit for the goal after Sac State freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Lawrence bobbled the ball into the net. The third goal came in the 90th minute with just seven seconds left on the clock when junior midfielder Naomi Hernandez found the net on a header off an assist from junior midfielder Terran Hadlock.

Sac State was outshot 21-8 by the Wolf Pack. Lawrence recorded a game-high eight saves. The loss drops Sac State to 1-2 on the season while the win gives Nevada a record of 1-1-1 on the season.

Sac State’s next game is at 1 p.m. Sunday against Fresno State at Hornet Soccer Field.
