Late night treat with Beto’s eats

Angie Blair

Behind a simple exterior lies a hidden treasure for late night food lovers.

Beto&s Mexican Food serves up impressively authentic Mexican food for rock bottom prices 24 hours a day.

Located at 2234 El Camino Ave., the close proximity to Sacramento State makes Beto&s a great place for students to grub down morning, noon or late night. The place even has a drive thru for those who wish to stay in their pajamas while grabbing a snack.

The Beto&s menu is made up of traditional favorites like tacos, burritos, enchiladas and tostadas, as well as more authentic foods like menudo and tortas 8211; a tasty Mexican sandwich.

As my guests and I approached the counter to order, we noticed a free, all you can eat, chips and salsa bar. It just doesn&t get any better than that.

After studying the menu thoroughly, we decided on a few things: California burrito, chorizo breakfast burrito and nachos. The food was delivered to us promptly, and, as we dug in I could have sworn I was in heaven. My California burrito was delicious and filled with cheese, carne asada, fried potatoes and pico de gallo.

The nachos were huge, and piled high with melted cheddar and jack cheese and fresh guacamole. The chorizo breakfast burrito received two thumbs up and a thorough devouring of its chorizo, potatoes, cheese and egg.

The food was tasty, but the best part, by far, were the prices. Each item was under $4 8211; a practical feast for less than $10.

Menu items range from .85- $6.95. Big portions paired with low prices are a winning combination. There are also combination plates that are served with rice and beans in the $6-$7 range.

Soft drinks are available, as well as a few Mexican specialties. Horchata, Tamarindo and Pina are Mexican soft drinks that are often hard to find in the average, run of the mill Mexican restaurant.

No alcoholic beverages are available, but still a success for being original, delicious, cheap and available 24/7.
