Playright’s Theatre to feature drama “Burn This” Nov 21
November 20, 2002
Prepare to be “burned” as the Playright’s Theatre gears up for another series of performances.
Categorized as a human story by director Margaret Morneau, Lanford Wilson’s “Burn This” revolves around Anna, a dancer/choreographer. She lives a sheltered life and has a relationship with Burton, a successful screenwriter.
Also, added to the mix is Anna’s other roommate, Larry, an advertising executive whose homosexual flamboyance is only matched by his intelligence and caring nature.
While attending the funeral, Anna encounters Larry’s family, who had no knowledge of their son’s homosexuality.
“I enjoy Lanford Wilson’s work,” said Morneau. “I think he is an amazing playwright because he writes wonderfully spoken words.”
Whether it is attempting to relate to the characters or leaving the audience with a clear fresh outlook on the play, “Burn This” should have something for everyone.
“Allow yourself to explore new feelings and avenues of your life,” said sophomore Justin Pickersgill,” the man behind Burton.
“There are experiences in our lives we need to accept,” said junior, Olivia Johansson, who portrays Anna.
“Burn This” opens in Shasta Hall’s Playwright’s Theatre Thursday Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. and plays until Sunday Nov. 24. with a matinee before the Thanksgiving holiday. Shows resume after Thanksgiving from Dec. 5 through Dec. 8.
Tickets can be purchased at the theatre box office at 278-2777 or by visiting Tickets.com. Prices range from $13 for general admission and $8 for students, seniors and alumni.
