Students react to U.S. aid in Middle East

The CSUS Muslim Student Association is one of the supporters of the U.S. pulling out of the Middle East. They were outside the library quad last week, peacefully opposing U.S involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian war, in hopes of stopping the death of innocents.

“All the pictures we have are of children dying by being shot in ways that seemed point blank,” said Basma Marmosh, secretary of the association.

Some of the MSA placards read, “Stop the killing, stop the crime, save our child in Palestine”.

“The only hope I see is educating people about the atrocities of war, people should read up and not just listen to one side, read about both sides of the story, so you know what is really going on,” Marmosh said.

John Jackson, a graduate student said that he supports anyone who supports peace.

“How can you eliminate terrorists and war by bombing?” Jackson asked.

Jonathan Mendez, a graphic design major and immigrant from Yugoslavia, said he was very concerned about how ignorance can motivate people to take sides.

Jackson and Mendez also said that the U.S. involvement in the war is probably a strategic way of creating allies in a geographically suitable part of the world.

“I think the MSA should stand their ground in their peaceful fight against war-until there is a resolution- and hopefully the Israelis will pull back,” said Mendez.

“Peace definitely cannot be achieved by bombing, I hope the leaders come to a peaceful resolution,” said Jackson.

“People should realize that humans are dying for the sake of what this country is based on-freedom, therefore they should speak up against U.S foreign aids to the Israelis, and propose peaceful resolutions,” said Marmosh.
