Chicano/Latino Alumni Association first annual scholarship banquet to be held Saturday

The Chicano/Latino Alumni Association, a subset of its Associated Students Alumni, will be hosting its first annual Capital Scholarship Banquet at Sac State?s Alumni Center on Saturday, Apr. 27th, 2002.

Sac State has graduated thousands of Chicano/Latinos over the years and as aresult members formed the Chicano/Latino Alumni Association.

Many graduates are now professionals with advanced degrees and noteworthy professional accomplishments. Because of the huge growth of California?s Latino Market, the Alumni Association feels now is the time to establish a scholarship where Chicano/Latino graduates of Sac State can help out with funds available for deserving students of that background and encourage them to attend college.

The association needs the help of both alumni and the general public in raising a minimum of $20,000 for scholarships after the banquet?s expenses.

Over 300 guests will be attending the black-tie optional event and there will feature prominent speakers.

The Chicano/Latino Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization and all contributions made will be tax deductible.

Tickets to the event range from $50 to one ticket up to $4,000 for a Platinum group rate. For more information regarding the Capital Scholarship Banquet contact the Alumni Center at (916) 278-6295.
