Irish ensemble to play today

The engaging Irish music ensemble, “Cherish the Ladies,” will perform live at Sacramento State Today at 7:30 p.m. in the University Union Ballroom.
The event is part of the University Union?s UNIQUE Programs/ASI Cultural Affairs series and is sponsored by the Sac State Women?s Resource Center.
The all-female band consists of flautist Joanie Madden, the leader of the group; Mary Coogan on guitar and banjo, who recently recorded her first solo album; Mary Rafferty on the accordion, flute and whistles; Deirdre Connolly on lead vocalist and whistle; Donna Long on piano, fiddle and harmony vocals and Marie Reilly also on fiddle and whistle.
The band?s Irish music consists of various instruments and vocals combined with dazzling step dancing. Their third album, “The Girls Won?t Leave The Boys Alone,” is available on the BMG label. The band has also been featured on Good Morning America, PBS, and other media for their incredible and stunning music and performance.
