Dracula to haunt Sacramento State
April 23, 2001
The classic horror “Dracula” will be performed in the Sacramento State Playwrights? Theatre next month. Presented by the Theatre Department, “Dracula” is a Master?s thesis project and will be directed by Robin Henson.
Beginning May 3, “Dracula” will continue through the sixth, with additional performances May 10 through 13.
The play is an adaptation of Bram Stoker?s original 1897 novel, in which Dracula defies God when the woman he loves kills herself, and vows to wait forever for her return.
In a world where there is no distinction between the dark and light, writer Mac Wellman depicts a mysterious and disturbing Victorian society stripped of all inhibitions, revealing naked impulses and unrestrained behavior.
General admission is $10. The cost is $7 for students, seniors, alumni and $8 for children under 12.
