One of the most talked about new names since his involvement in Madonna’s Grammy-nominated album “Music,” Frenchman Mirwais continues to gain popularity with his debut album “Production”.

Released to the U.S. on Feb. 27, “Production” has already received rave reviews from all over the world with its talented ensemble of disco grooves and electronic pop mixes.

“I truly believe this man is a genius,”Madonna said of Mirwais in Billboard Magazine.

The first single “Disco Science,” is also featured on the soundtrack to “Snatch,” a film directed by Madonna’s new husband, Guy Ritchie.

Madonna first heard of Mirwais through a tape of “Disco Science” that was passed along to her Maverick label partner Guy Oseary, according to a statement by Jonathan Cohen in the Daily Music News.

“I love to work with the weirdoes that no one knows about,” Madonna told Billboard’s Larry Flick in July. “The people who have raw talent and who are making music unlike anyone else out there.”

The second single and video “Naive Song,” is a complex musical arrangement of distorted guitar and synthesizer beats combined with pop sounding lyrics about “unhappy girls and boys living in a happy world”.

“My record is dance music without the hedonist side you can usually expect from a dance record,” Mirwais said, in an interview with MTV. “It’s more of a mix of the energy of dance and the sadness and melancholy of pop. It’s a curious mix.”

Mirwais formed his first band, Taxi Girl, at age17, an electronic style band which “used a lot of synthesizer.” He also played in his girlfriend’s acoustic group, Juliette Et Les Independants. He has been a prominent figure in the electronic music scene since the 80s.

“Production” has a blend of unique sounds and offers a danceable style of music unlike any other. If you like Madonna’s album “Music”, this album takes dance groove to a new level.
