The Department of Design held a reception exhibiting photography from Sacramento State students, Thursday evening at the Design Gallery in Mariposa Hall.
Striking photographs from 25 students were displayed upon the walls of the new Design Gallery.
Both students and professors were pleased with the exhibit.
“This is a very strong showing,” student Dana Bruce said, “We have some very talented photographers here at Sacramento State.
Bruce, who will soon be working on his master’s, had two photos selected to be in the exhibit, one of which was a very unique environmental portrait.
Among the many photographs displayed were works by students Sandy Roberts and Leisa Barnes who are also photographers for the State Hornet.
Sandy Robert’s eye-catching photo seized the catcher in action at a baseball game, while photographer Leisa Barnes’ photo captured the innocence of a little girl in a candid shot.
Robert Hernandez’s portraits were also stunning, he has found his gift.
Jennifer Regadio’s display is a moving photograph that is part of a documentary on aging. “This is a picture of my 92-year-old great uncle who came to the U.S. from the Philippines in the 1920s,” Regadio said.
Sacramento State has some very talented photographers in their program. Upon viewing the exhibit it was quite apparent.
“Most of the students entered in this exhibit are upper division photography majors,” said Photography Professor Sharmon Goff. “That is why this exhibit is exceptional.”
