Charlie’s Angels, a film version of the 1970s television series, is a flashy and fun action-comedy starring Cameron Diaz (Natalie), Drew Barrymore (Dylan) and Lucy Liu (Alex).

Prior to the premiere, I was already predisposed to dislike this movie, with its advertised abundance of T&A and cheesy acting. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this fun and flirtatious flick.

Charlie’s Angels maintained a rather brainless plot that was further distracted by the showcase of booty and cleavage among the three leading ladies.

The plot, however shallow, features a trio of undercover agents working for Charlie of Charles Townsend Investigations and his assistant, Bosley (Bill Murray). Their assignment is to solve the kidnapping mystery of a technological genius named Eric Knox (Sam Rockwell). The trio attempts to defeat the plans of villain (Crispin Glover) who wants to destroy the Angels.

In plunging necklines and fitted pants, the trio of private detectives partakes in martial arts-style combat resembling the slow motion action in The Matrix, with more of a focus on the eye-candy. The numerous provocative costume changes are about as numerous as the numerous action-packed battles, drawing attention to Barbie-like bodies of the trio.

However mindless and shallow the plot, I found it entertaining. It’s a good pick for a matinee, yet isn’t worthy of a $8 ticket. I don’t recommend Charlie’s Angels as a first-date movie or a movie for jealous girlfriends. Whether you’re interested in seeing computer-generated action battles or hot girls in skimpy outfits, this action-packed comedy is a lighthearted and fun pick.
