Fantasia 2000 returns to Imax

The Esquire Imax Theatre will bring “Fantasia 2000” back to its unique large formatted screen.

“Fantasia 2000” aims to take its viewers on a journey into the imagination using animation, classical music and state-of-the-art technology. It introduces seven new animated sequences set to classical compositions, and also includes “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” from the 1940 version of “Fantasia.”

Each of the seven new segments is very different from one another. For example, “Pines of Rome” brings a heard of whales to flight; “Rhapsody in Blue” follows several diverse characters through their daily routines in Manhattan during the Jazz Age; and “Carnival of the Animals, Finale” answers the question of what would happen if you gave a yo-yo to a bunch of flamingos.

Throughout the film, celebrity hosts, including Steve Martin, Bette Midler and Angela Lansbury, add to the excitement of the film and appear on screen to introduce the different segments.

“Fantasia 2000” ran exclusively in 75 IMAX theatres worldwide from Jan.1 through April 30 and became the fastest growing large format film in history, grossing $64 million worldwide.

Be sure to catch “Fantasia 2000” on IMAX’s gargantuan screen before it disappears again.
