DRIVE SMART Sacramento will partner up with Sacramento State?s Recreational Sports Department to hold its annual Natural High Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Library Quad.

The purpose of this fair is to inform students that having fun does not necessarily include drinking or doing drugs, and that there are alternatives.

“We are trying to show Sac State?s students that there are many ways to have a good time without using drugs and alcohol,” said Laura Hall, director of Recreational Sports. “The word ‘party’ does not have to be synonymous with drinking, and the Natural High Fair will be one big fun and sober party.”

Speakers at the fair include representatives from the California Highway Patrol and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Members of DRIVE SMART Sacramento will also be on hand to demonstrate the lethal consequences of driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Committee members will also demonstrate fatal vision goggles and the rollover simulator, which is a machine that enacts the actions of passengers involved in a rollover crash. The remains of a vehicle that was involved in an alcohol-related crash will also be displayed at the fair.

Audience members will also be able to participate in numerous activities that day, including jousting and a game called “Off With Your Heads.”

Other highlights include a rock climbing wall, a giant slide and an inflatable obstacle course.
