Basketball debuts Friday night

State Hornet Staff

It is that time of year again. Sac State?s basketball teams will hold their first basketball practice of the season on Friday with “Late Night at the Nest,” which will take place in Hornet Gym.

The free event will begin at 11 p.m., while the Gym will open up at 10 p.m. The men?s and women?s teams will be introduced at midnight.

After introductions, the men?s team will play a scrimmage against each other before they participate in a slam dunk competition.

This year?s event will be a little bit different than previous years. It will feature a music video awards show theme, and allow members of both teams to show off their musical abilities.

Both teams have new coaches this season. Jerome Jenkins will head the men?s team while Carolyn Jenkins will man the women?s post.

The men will begin their regular season on Nov. 17, when they host Bethany College. The women?s games will start counting the next day as they travel to San Jose State on Nov. 18.

The “Late Night at the Nest” will be the first opportunity to see either team as this Friday is the first date that college teams are allowed to practice.
