So now we need to worry about Barry Munitz again?

Coming to the CSU campus soon ? Barry Munitz?
Sorry, didn’t mean to startle, but even a casual reader of the news in recent weeks had trouble avoiding the former Chancellor’s photo along with the story about the potential sweet increase in retirement benefits a number of state officials are slated to receive under terms of SB 528, awaiting the governor’s signature.
That the politically well-connected Munitz was among the beneficiaries ? and political cronies ? looking to profit from the special bill wasn’t surprising, but that he is still on a leave of absence from the CSU is. At this point, Munitz is reportedly only hoping to be allowed to “buy” years of credit in the Public Employee Retirement System to make his retirement from the state more lucrative. But by being on leave ? meaning he is still a CSU employee ? leaves the option that Munitz could decide to take a campus position somewhere ? perhaps as a campus president if one is near retirement age.
Or he could even become a faculty member. Imagine being on the committee to evaluate his Faculty Activity Report. “So why were you nicknamed ‘the Chainsaw Chancellor’ by CSU faculty, Professor Munitz?”
? Last Thursday, football Coach John Volek received a pretty thorough printed lashing at the hands of Sacramento Bee sports columnist Ailene Voisin over Volek’s apparent decision to shut off any contact between his players and Bee reporters on the heels of Sac State’s loss to Portland State.
