Parents expected to protest Children’s Center program cut
September 12, 2000
A protest over the plan to close the evening programs of the Children’s Center in January ? organized by social work students and the Graduate Social Work Association ? is expected at Wednesday’s meeting of the Board of Directors of Associated Student, Inc.
The 3 p.m. meeting will be held in the student board chambers in the University Union.
The ASI board will be considering a proposal to help offset a $120,000 deficit ASI officials claim the Children’s Center incurred last year.
The board will also consider chopping the budgets of Peak Adventures and a number of other ASI programs for a total of approximately $25,000.
Tuesday afternoon students from the Graduate Social Work Association were posting fliers in University buildings asking for students to attend the ASI board meeting.
