Another semester, another group of endless classes and another Associated Students Inc. board that you only see during elections, right? Well, read on and see?
Hi. I'm Christina Romero, the girl you saw around campaign time in the spring. As the new 2007-2008 ASI President, I am working on being a well known, visible president. I mean outside of the times where I'm trying to get elected (just a joke, calm down)... As you can see, I like to tease.
But joking aside, I truly am the type of person who loves to strike up a conversation and get to know you on a personal level. After all, I am involved now with student government, but only by chance.
I was one of those "commuter" students who would come and go after class and had a social life outside of my campus community. What I didn't realize was how valuable I was, just like each of the 28,000+ students on our campus! We, as students, ARE the voice.
Now? Have you heard of our Strategic Plan? Sorry to disappoint any pessimists, but we actually do have a Strategic Plan! Over the summer we worked very hard to create a Strategic Plan that involved the broad range of students on our campus. Everyone from past, present and future students are included in our Strategic Plan! And just to give you a little FYI on Strategic Planning, it is an ongoing process that is ever evolving, sometimes into a better form of its original version and other times into a more focused plan. Strategic Plans are rich visions of what an organization, corporation or group identifies as its main priorities and the actions needed to fulfill its visions. In regards to our own Strategic Plan, it becomes official only after getting Board approval at our first ASI Regular Board meeting on Sept. 19. I am excited to share our plan with the Students of Sacramento State, as it would not have been fair to hold a meeting during the summer when students are not on campus. By the way, any and every student/ member of the public is always welcome to attend our board meetings.
That said, here are the main points on our soon-to-be-voted-on Strategic Plan:
Make ASI's Public Image Visible and TransparentPromote an Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable CampusPromote a Welcoming Environment for Community and AlumniPromote a Safer Campus EnvironmentPromote ASI Advancement
What do you think? If you want more info or to comment on our strategic plan, please come to our meeting or contact us at www.asi.csus.edu
So to answer my own prompted question, I don't want to meet you because it is election time; I want to meet you because I am serving you as your ASI President.
And as I said above, you and your voice are so valuable to our campus! Please come and get involved. I would love to hear from you.
Finally, I have a question for you?.
If you had the opportunity to change one thing on our campus, anything, what would it be?
