Tennis player earns Player of the Week
Junior Anton Stryhas was named Big Sky Player of the Week for the first time this season and third of his career. Stryhas helped Sac State beat Oregon last week with a win in the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Nineteen qualify for Championships
Nineteen members of the track and field team qualified for the Big Sky Championships after competing in the UW Invitational on Saturday in Washington. The athletes qualified in a combined 31 indoor events.
Sac State soccer player drafted
Eli Millan, a senior midfielder, was drafted by the California Cougars in the fourth round of the Major Indoor Soccer League on Jan. 29. The Cougars are based in Stockton.
Millan has tallied 64 matches with 32 starts, 10 goals, seven assets, 27 points and is a two-time second team All-MPSF Selection.
Former Hornet denied fourth ring
Former offensive lineman and long snapper for Sac State in 1996-99 Lonie Paxton, who is currently the New England Patriots center, competed in his fourth Super Bowl.He was undrafted as a free agent by the Patriots on 2000.
Former Hornet offensive lineman John Gesek has two rings from his 1993 and 1994 Super Bowl appearances with the Dallas Cowboys.
