Five Sacramento State students attended and successfully completed Army ROTC Camp in Fort Lewis, Wash., according to cadet and business major, Christine Pinnick.

Pinnick, criminal justice major Eric Cunningham, history major Gabriel Suarez and business majors Ryan Pifer and Allan Renazco completed the rigorous training.

All five cadets, upon graduation in their designated field of study, will earn a commission in the U.S. Army in the grade of second lieutenant.

“I think it?s an honor,” Pinnick said of the physical and mental challenges that lasted five weeks. “By serving my country, I take a lot of pride in being in the military and being a leader.”

The training involved a series of duties including endurance, leader positions and the marksmanship of firing M-16 rifles.

“It is definitely high speed training for five straight weeks,” Pinnick said. The whole time you are focusing on getting through the training. It gets you one step closer to becoming an officer.”
