Leah Lentz is a journalism major and in her first semester as a news staffer for The State Hornet. She previously served as the Editor-in-Chief on the Sacramento City College Express for two semesters. Leah is passionate about covering public policy and gained experience reporting on politics during a recent internship with Capitol Weekly. Outside the newsroom, she enjoys discovering new trails to hike with her husband and terrier, Walter White.

Native American community celebrates dedicated college grand opening

The Wileety Native American College celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday, Sept. 24. During the event, many community members expressed their excitement and hopes about the future of the college and its students.

Grand opening for Basic Needs Resource Center expands support for students facing insecurity

Sac State marked the opening of its Basic Needs Resource Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday. The center offers free food, clothing, parenting supplies and hygiene products, along with services such as housing referrals and counseling.

Since fall 2024, Sacramento State has gone through with the disbandment of the RPTA program, major revisions to the general education program and announced its support of the Women and Gender Studies program.
