A former Sacramento State student was killed in a car crash in Roseville on Saturday night, according to the Roseville Police Department.

Kourtney Ketcher-Sid, 20, was heading southbound on East Roseville Parkway when a green Ford Expedition heading westbound on Douglas Boulevard struck her black Acura in the intersection, according to the Police Department press release. The accident occurred at 10:16 p.m.

The driver of the Expedition, 20-year-old Joshua Bauser, ran a red light, Capt. Dave Braafladt of the Roseville Police Department said.

Ketcher-Sid was taken to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center emergency room, where she was pronounced dead.

Bauser was arrested and taken to Roseville City Jail. Bauser, who is not a Sac State student, was charged with causing injury or death while driving under the influence of alcohol.

A junior child development major, Ketcher-Sid transferred this semester to Sac State from Sierra College.

She withdrew from the university on Feb. 4, said Dawn Futrell, who is responsible for administrative support for the child development department.

“So as far as our classes would be considered, she was never enrolled,” Futrell said, “because this was in the first two-week drop period.”

Braafladt said the incident is still under investigation, and no trial date has been set yet.
