In an effort to make students more aware about cures for the flu, a marketing team spent most of Tuesday on campus to promote Tamiflu, a prescription drug that cures the flu.

A large vehicle containing a mock living room was parked in the lot behind the library, and several workers handed out free packets of instant chicken noodle soup and information on Tamiflu.

“Ideally, when you get the flu, what do you do? You eat chicken noodle soup. So instead, you can take Tamiflu,” said Howard Padin, manager of the marketing team.

The group was on campus as part of a nationwide advertising campaign by Roche Laboratories, the creators of Tamiflu.

“We?re trying to hit the areas that have flu alerts,” said Randolph Hubard, whose job it was to sit in the mock living room for most of the day.

Sacramento is currently very high on a list of cities that have flu cases, Padin said.By bringing the campaign to campus, Hubard said that it shows students how a normal life without the flu can be.

“Unless you live in a germ-free environment, you?re at risk for the flu,” Hubard said.
