Dance marathon will be held to raise money for students
October 20, 2015
On Friday Oct. 23, the second annual Dance Marathon will be held at the residence hall quad area for a night of fundraising from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Last year’s event raised $16,906 for the student emergency grant fund.
From 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., students are welcome to walk around the quad and enjoy the festival-like atmosphere with booths and live entertainment in the area. They will find Rotaract club’s world-record breaking teeter-totter, Pets for Stress puppy kissing booths, photo booths, mocktails provided by student health and counseling services and more.
From 6:30 to 10 p.m., students can participate in a dance competition where they can dance until they no longer can.
“For $7, students get a swag bag of a shirt and a Chick-Fil-A sandwich…And if they last until 10 p.m dancing on their feet, they will get entered for a raffle prize that is worth about $100,” said senior biology major and Student Advancement Leader for the Alumni Center, Angelica Carrazco.
All funds raised will go towards the student emergency grant fund which aims to assist those who experience financial emergencies that could prevent them from studying at Sacramento State.
“We encourage students to donate, because that’s how other people can benefit from this,” said Carrrazco.
