Men’s basketball defeated by Lumberjacks 73-59

The Sacramento State Hornets lost their last road game in their conference 73-59 today to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.

The Hornets, who are now 4-21, 2-12 in conference, were held to 34.5 percent shooting throughout the game. The Lumberjacks scored early and never relinquished the lead, starting with a 10-point advantage (15-5) midway through the first half.

Hornets’ junior forward Loren Leath was able to score a three-pointer to get the game within 1-point (12-11) with 13:07 remaining in the first half.

The Lumberjacks’ Josh Wilson scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Lumberjacks to victory over the Hornets and his teammate Kyle Landry had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hornets had three players score 12 points apiece: Leath, senior forward Justin Williams and senior guard Clark Woods.

Hornets’ freshman guard Vinnie McGhee, who had his career high 30 points against Montana State, was held to only four points on 1-5 shooting.

The Hornets play their next game at 7:05 p.m. on Feb. 28 at home against Idaho State.
