The Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow leadership conference was held today at Sacramento State in the University Union.

Presenters led workshops for students that focused on building and perfecting helpful skills. Topics included time management, teamwork and interview techniques. Many students in attendance found a lot of valuable information in these workshops. Justin Brown, a junior business major, and Laurence Pele, a senior finance major, both found the time management workshop very interesting.

“It showed me ways to prioritize and organize my schedule, something we all need help with,” Brown said.

“It will help me get a good job,” Pele added.

Karla Brown, a senior journalism major, found a lot of valuable information in a workshop called “Move It or Lose It.” This workshop focused on finding methods to motivate club members and to keep morale high throughout the semester. Karlos Santos-Coy, program advisor with Student Activities, coordinated the event and was pleased with the turnout of students.

“We have had a very diverse group of students today. It’s tough to get students here after the winter break,” Santos-Coy said.

With more than 100 students showing up for the event, many of the presenters commented on how well the workshops had gone. Deborah Marcus of the Career Center said the students were very involved in the workshops.

“They were very engaged, asking great questions, it was a lot of fun,” she said.
