Students who missed the March 4 deadline to turn inapplications for enrollment in one of SacramentoState?s teacher preparation programs have one moreopportunity to secure a spot this year.
In June the Education Student Service Center will makeapplications available for programs beginning inspring 2003. The application deadline for all springprograms is the first Monday in Oct.
Credential programs designed to begin in both the falland spring semesters are the Multiple Subject andSingle Subject three-semester program, the one-yearSingle Subject program, and the Special Educationprogram.
According to Nadeen Ruiz, coordinator of the EducationStudent Service Center, Sac State began offering thespring semester, or ?mid-term?, programs to help evenout the number of students in credential programsthroughout the year.
“We always see more students apply for fall programsbecause they are interested in the one-year credentialprograms and want to be available when schooldistricts hire in the summer,” said Ruiz, “but for students completing their undergraduate work in the fall, or students interested in the three-semester program, applying for the spring program might be a better choice.”
Students interested in applying for a springcredential program are encouraged to attend a TeacherPreparation Program Advising Meeting hosted the byESSC.
The next advising meeting is scheduled for today at 3p.m. in Eureka Hall 107.
“The advising meetings are a great place for studentsto start,” Ruiz said “any questions they haveregarding the application process, admissions, orfinancial aid can be answered at these meetings.”
After today?s meeting, the ESSC will host one morethis year on May 16. These will be the last twomeetings before spring applications are made availablein June.
