Cat on a Hot Tin Stage

Bridget Williams

The classic Southern drama “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” is heading to the campus stage for eight performances, beginning this week, in Sacramento State’s Playwright’s Theatre.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play, originally written and produced in 1955 by the legendary Tennessee Williams, will be directed by theatre Professor Paul R. Waldo.

“Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” later adapted to a 1958 film starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor, is the story of the dysfunctional children of a wealthy man who use deception and hypocrisy in their struggle for his estate.

Opening night is this Thursday at 8 p.m., with additional performances Oct. 13-15 and 19-21. The production will end with a Sunday matinee on Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 general and $7 for students, alumni and seniors through Central Ticket Office at 278-4323, or online at www.tickets.com.
