A month for women and their story
March 9, 2016
Sacramento State is bringing awareness in women issues with a series of events throughout March for Women’s “Herstory” Month.
Sac State has been celebrating Women’s “Herstory” month since 1991. More than a dozen events including discussions, film screenings and an art show will be held this month hosted by the Women’s Resource Center, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center and other programs, centers, or departments on campus.
“All of the programs that we’re putting out this month [are] basically raising awareness on the issues, on the experiences, on the contributions,” said Aisha Engle, graduate student coordinator of the WRC. “To give people an opportunity to discuss, to be able to become aware of the things women are doing on Sac State campus or outside of Sac State campus.”
Engle said the events serve as opportunities for them to provide a space for women’s stories to be told, and for students to talk and think critically outside of the classroom.
