March 10, 2015
Sacramento State coach Brian Katz was named Co-Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Coach of the Year this morning.
Katz, whose team finished the league season with a program-best 13-5 in the Big Sky, has been Sac State’s coach for the past seven seasons. The team has increased its conference record every year under Katz, starting from a 1-15 conference mark in the 2008-09 season.
Splitting the honor with Katz was Eastern Washington University coach Jim Hayford, whose Eagles earned a 14-4 regular season.
Sac State and Eastern Washington will be the No. 3 and No. 2 seeds, respectively, in the quarterfinal round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament, which begins Thursday.
