The State Hornet won three awards from the California College Media Association.

The California College Media Association holds a competition each year to honor excellence in student media at junior college and university publications throughout California.

Marcy Hendricks’ cartoon, “Graduation,” won first place for best cartoon in the weekly newspaper category.

Leia Ostermann’s story, “Pianist finds personality for music in Germany,” published Nov. 17, won third place for best arts and entertainment story in the weekly newspaper category.

The State Hornet photo staff also received a third-place award for best photography series.

State Hornet editors traveled to Hollywood to receive the awards.
