Former football coach Bob Mattos dies at 68

Former Sacramento State football coach Bob Mattos died from the effects of brain cancer at the age of 68 today at his home in Rancho Murieta.

Mattos had an 84-73-2 record as Hornet head coach from 1978-1992. The 1988 season proved to be most memorable, as the team earned a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Hornets lost to North Dakota State in the semifinals.
