Quran Jones charged with murder

Quran Jones, the Sacramento State student accused of beating his suitemate to death in the American River Courtyard residence hall, has been formally charged with one count of murder and three counts of assaulting police officers.
Charges were filed by the district attorney’s office after Jones’ condition was upgraded from fair to good at the UC Davis Medical Center.
Jones was shot and wounded by campus police officers outside of his suite in the American River Courtyard residence hall on Oct. 21.
Following the shooting and subduing of Jones, campus police found Scott Hawkins lying on the floor of suite 1032 suffering from massive trauma.
Hawkins was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the UC Davis Medical Center.
Jones is charged with the murder of Hawkins on Oct. 21.
No court date has been set for Jones.
